It depends,  I sometimes work from sketches I draw directly in photoshop, i.e. http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ldfwdnXiGQ1qb6gpao1_500.jpg and work on them as a base for the final painting/drrawing. but this jellyfish one was never meant to be more than a sketch anyway.

Shading in pencil > Don’t smudge, unless it’s with a blending stick,  blending with fingers tends to make the drawing look messy,  also,  use a wide range of values, so don;t be afraid to use really dark ones too. 

I don’t have a favourite art tool, I just enjoy experimenting!

I was going to search for an image of one but then I found this and it has a better explanation (starting with the 2nd paragraph) http://marsdesignsnstuff.blogspot.ro/2010/12/tina-fey-final-wip-peek.html#comment-form I’m not too sure about prices since I got mine as a present from my parents but I’m pretty sure you can find them at any art store, I always see them around.

You’re welcome! Haha, I used to use toilet paper as well. Mum used to wonder what the roll were doing on my desk and not in the bathroom. Well, I could try, but don’t expect too much.
